Anybody going to NYCC this weekend? If so, what are you planning on seeing? I'm probably going tomorrow and Sunday, I'd like to see the Adventure Time/Regular Show panel but I don't know how early I'll have to be there to get in line, because I'm sure that panel will be packed!

Also, my friend Victoria has opened up inexpensive commissions -- pen and ink portraits starting at $5! Check it out, if you'd please: catbus.deviantart.com/journal/…

Finally got myself a tumblr! I was scared of it for a while but I really like the format for uploading sketches and doodles and stuff. I'm uploading sketches and stuff that I wouldn't otherwise put up on here:

sarsel.tumblr.com/

I also uploaded my very first animation assignment for the year to youtube. It was a six-legged walk cycle for Celia Bullwinkel's class: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3PTZ2…
I wish I'd had time to add more inbetweens so it'd play more smoothly but overall I am happy with it! I worked hard on fat pony, dangit.

That's all!

I have problems

1 min read
...One of them being that I have this song stuck in my head, except my brain is doing that thing where it replaces parts of the lyrics for no reason, and whenever the guy says "moneygrabber" I just replace it with "honey badger." And everybody knows honey badgers don't care, they don't give a shit, so he's telling the thing to never come back, but you KNOW it will because it's a honey badger, so now all I can imagine is that lead singer wrestling a honey badger

I can't unhear it oh my god someone please help me

THESIS IS OVER! I really hated most of the ordeal - it was so stressful and took up so much of my time and energy when it really shouldn't have - but it was worth it in the end and now I am ready to move onto new things! All of my pent-up frustration and resentment over the assignment was completely obliterated when I saw all of my classmates' gorgeous pieces hanging up in the gallery, though; everyone did such a great job and I was totally awestruck! Somehow my pictures managed to sneak in there too, and even though I'm not crazy about them, it's still kind of satisfying to see them up on the wall - I am simultaneously happy and mortified. But I am so proud of everybody!

So, that said, if you live in the area you should think about coming to see the show! It's totally free, open to non-SVA people and it's an opportunity to see some really impressive Illustration work. And if you are an SVA student, you don't really have an excuse not to go. The pieces are up all month but you should consider coming to the reception so you can say hi to everybody! I am sure our fabled chair T. Woodrex will be present, so you can admire him in his terrifying reptilian majesty. Here's the info:

A handful of some of the super duper people involved (that I know of!):

Despite being accepted, ashcap's lovely pieces are not in the show. She was on her way to submit her prints last week but she is so small and elf-like that a bird of prey swooped down and flew away with her, only returning her after the deadline had passed. But she will be at the reception! You can recognize her because she is a whimsical screaming fairy (I've heard she grants wishes).

On a final note, this weekend is MoCCA! It only costs $12 for the day and it's so much fun and there are so many amazing artists there, if you live in NYC you'd have to be smoking crack silly not to attend. ashcap, Quillery and I will be at table C15, they are selling prints and adorable little books titled BOOTY EXTRAVAGANZA. I will be peddling my amigurumi and selling the original dolls of the ones shown in my gallery, and some new ones that I haven't shown! Please stop by and say hello, or let us know if you have your own table! I am so excited yesssss

EDIT: Sale is over, thanks guys! I don't know if anyone found their way there from DA but I had 48 purchases this week! Hot damn.

Happy new year!

I don't think many people watch me on DA for my amigurumi stuff, but I figured I'd mention it anyway: I'm close to hitting my 100th sale (I'm at 97 99! right now) in my Etsy shop, and when I do I'm going to celebrate by making all the patterns in my shop 35% off for a week! I've only been open since May and I've been so impressed and surprised by how many people have been buying my stuff. So if anyone here has bought something through my Etsy, I give you my sincerest thanks!

I have two brand-new patterns for sale, too:

Take a look if you're interested! I should probably reach 100 sales within the next couple of days so keep your eyes peeled, I'll edit this journal with the coupon code.

Also, to those who are on the list for Toothless amigurumis - I'm so sorry that they've taken me so painstakingly long to finish. Like I said in one of my earlier journals, I really underestimated how long it would take to make and sew on all the tiny parts, and I was terrible at managing my time with school this semester. All of the Toothlesses are sitting at my apartment back in the city and they just need their finishing touches. I can't say when they'll be done, but rest assured that they are all made and will be there if you guys still want to buy them. I really appreciate your patience, thank you!
